MMT Recommends: week 10 of #ThingsToDoFromHome

Hey MMT Fam! Here’s another week’s offering featuring streaming, TV, and online suggestions that you and/or the family can enjoy from home. And remember many options are also shared on Instagram and/or the MMT Facebook page throughout the week.

  • June is Black Music Month, also known as African-American Music Appreciation Month, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has shared its Aretha Franklin collection online to celebrate week one. You can watch The Hall’s cherished Franklin playlist, starting with Keith Richard’s induction of Franklin into the Hall of Fame to Franklin performing songs such as “Freeway of Love,” “Think,” “Don’t Play That Song,” and “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” throughout the years at different Rock Hall concerts and ceremonies at their official YouTube channel here.
  • June is also Pride Month, and Revry, the first global LGBTQ+ streaming network, has launched its service on Samsung TV Plus, Samsung’s FREE smart TV video service that grants instant access to 120 plus free channels in news, sports, entertainment and more. Samsung’s only Queer-focused TV channel, The Revry Channel premieres across millions of Samsung Smart TVs just in time for this Pride season, and is the first and only home for exclusively LGBTQ+ entertainment on Samsung’s Smart TVs. The channel is also available for FREE to view on the web, Apple and Android platforms, Roku and Fire TV. There’s also a premium pay option that includes a 7-day free trial.   • SELMA, JUST MERCY, AND BRIAN BANKS are currently streaming for FREE on various platforms – to highlight and promote awareness of the racial and legal inequality faced by African-Americans in the United States. “Selma” is on iTunes and Amazon Prime. and Vudu. Get app info to watch “Just Mercy” for free at justmercyfilm.com. And “Brian Banks” is also available on iTunes and Amazon Prime.   • The Kimmel Center in Philadelphia is having a virtual graduation after-party to celebrate the Class of 2020, on Tuesday, June 9th 7 – 8:30 pm. The multi-platform concert will feature Philly’s own DJ Aktive, R&B group Good Girl, and hip-hop sensation SimxSantana! This digital event will be streamed on multiple social media platforms, as well as the School District of Philadelphia’s television station PSTV.   • And lastly, our friends at the Wizard World Virtual Experience have released additional schedule info as follows: the first event featuring the cast of Teen Spirit, Cassie Scerbo, Gabriela Lopez, Lindsey Shaw and Katie Sarife, is set for Monday, June 8, at 1 pm ET / 10 am ET. Later that day, World of Wrestling, featuring The Headbangers, Jessie Godderz and SoCal Val, follows at 4 pm ET / 1 pm PT. Then it’s the rescheduled session with L.A. Law ensemble Corbin Bernsen, Harry Hamlin, Blair Underwood, Alan Rachins, Jill Eikenberry, Michele Greene, Michael Tucker and Susan Ruttan, on Tuesday, June 9, at 1:30 pm ET / 10:30 am PT. Next up are Caddyshack standouts Cindy Morgan and Michael O’Keefe on Sunday, June 14, at 4 pm ET / 1 pm PT (previously listed as scheduled on June 4). Then it’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. stars Brett Dalton, Jeff Ward, Max Osinski, Adrian Pasdar, B.J. Britt, Briana Venskus, Mallory Jansen, Dichen Lachman and Christopher James Baker on Tuesday, June 16, at 4 pm ET / 1 pm PT. Finally, the cast of Runaways, Lyrica Okano, Virginia Gardner, Ariela Barer, Angel Parker, Annie Wersching, James Marsters, Brigid Brannagh, Brittany Ishibashi and Clarissa Thibeaux, begins on Sunday, June 28, at 1 pm ET / 10 am PT (rescheduled from June 6).  The live Q&A panels are FREE for fans to view (on Twitch, Facebook, YouTube) and submit questions in text chat. Separately fans may purchase live video chat sessions, recorded videos and autographs.  During each session, the celebrities will participate in a free live moderated video Q&A, followed by one-on-one video chats, recorded videos and autographs that are available to purchase. Fans can interact with Wizard Entertainment at www.wizardworld.com and on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and other social media services.
