The wry and wicked wit of Wednesday. The mayhem causing play of Pugsley. The dope and iconic cousin IT. The “don’t let this dead look fool you” brawniness of Lurch. And the eternal love fest of Morticia and Gomez all have returned in the newly released THE ADDAMS FAMILY 2.
In this sequel to the 2019 film, Morticia and Gomez decide on a cross-country trip to rein in their inattentive kids’ behaviors and encourage some family time. What they don’t expect is the constant out-witting and escaping from bandits, who are attempting to kidnap Wednesday, nor their daughter’s related questioning of her true paternity.
Reminiscent of “Kung Fu Panda 3,” with its stunning animation and lessons on family and acceptance and “SING,” with its dope soundtrack and adult infused humor, “The Addams Family 2” is a fun romp – even if the story isn’t as tight, and themes as substantial, as the aforementioned.
But it is solid and kid-friendly enough to make it a good family watch – and there’s plenty of silliness and goofy antics to make it appealing for the littlest of tikes.
I rate it 3 out of 5 on the MMTrometer.
THE ADDAMS FAMILY 2 premiered Friday, October 1 in theaters.
