Hey MMT Fam! Here is week 20’s virtual list featuring TV, online and streaming suggestions that you and/or the family can enjoy from home, or at a reasonable social-distance. I’m still sharing events and cool posts on Instagram and/or the MMT Facebook page throughout the week, so hit those hyperlinks, give me a follow, and don’t forget to share the wealth with others!
- Our friends at the Philadelphia Film Society are continuing virtual streaming offerings of newly released and recommended films, including titles like “The Fight” (discussed right here on MMT), “John Lewis: Good Trouble,” “Creem: Amerian’s Only Rock ‘N’ Roll Magazine,” and “Amulet.” PFS is also highly recommending its “Bunk Mate” pick of the week, the 1980 classic slasher film FRIDAY THE 13TH (I just mentioned this in that MURDER IN THE WOODS review)! The movie follows a group of camp counselors who are being stalked and murdered by an unknown assailant while trying to reopen a summer camp that was the site of a child’s drowning. You can click HERE to check out all the places you can rent or buy “Friday the 13th” and get additional information about all these events and more at the PFS website here. PS: PFS also has a great socially-distanced “drive-in” option now available at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Click here to get film selection/showtime information and purchase tickets.
- And speaking of drive-ins, The Mann Music Center, in collaboration with T-Mobile, is setting up its own right in the heart of Fairmount Park that will feature FREE movies for six weeks starting Friday, August 21. You can click here to register and get additional information about film selections and showtimes.
- Our friends at the ONE Musicfest are inviting you to join them on Saturday, August 22nd at 3 pm ET for their FREE #AtTheCribFest – that will feature a star-studded lineup including Ari Lennox, Ro James, Lion Babe, Jade Novah, Ye Ali, Yung Baby Tate, Gemaine, Kenny Mason, Chavis Flagg and will be hosted by ATL’s own Paige Shari! You have to register to secure your spot at www.onemusicfest.com/atthecribfest and make sure to follow @ONEMusicfest and @ToytotaUSA on social media for the latest updates. PS: All registrants will be directed to a contest for a chance to win an #ATTheCribFest Backstage Experience or two (2) VIP tickets to the next One Musicfest, so look for those confirmation emails when you RSVP!
- Lastly, Sight and & Sounds Theatres has an online streaming service, Sight & Sound TV, where you can enjoy its wonderful selection of faith-based live and recorded productions from the comfort of your own home for a $25 donation (easier than driving to Lancaster for us Philly area folks, right?). The next live production will be its interpretation of ESTHER on September 4 at 7 pm, but there are several recorded productions available now to stream. Click here to register (for free) for the website’s newsletter, updates and browse play selections and showtimes.
That’s it for now family! Until next thought, Thomasena
