- Our friends at the Philadelphia Film Society are continuing virtual streaming offerings of newly released and recommended films, including titles like “John Lewis: Good Trouble,” “Miss Juneteenth,” and “The Last Tree.” PFS is also highly recommending its “Revolutionary” pick of the week – the 2018 drama MILK featuring Sean Penn. - World Cafe Live has a couple of free upcoming streaming events that you can participate in as well. The first is this Tuesday, July 14 at 5:30 p.m. ET, Mighty Songs for the Moment, A Poetry and Music Virtual Release Celebration, and will feature poetry and songs from 8 student writers plus World Cafe Live teaching artist Ami Yares. This virtual event is free to attend, but you must RSVP for the Zoom link. On Thursday, July 30, WCL is inviting everyone to join Philly’s own Lady Alma, with Vertical Current, for a live-stream performance presented by Walking Bear. If you’ve never seen one of Alma’s shows, you are most certainly in for a soul-stirring experience! The performance will be free to watch on Twitch. - Here’s something fun, and active, for the younger kiddos! KIDZ BOP has a Daily Dance Break, streaming on its YouTube channel, that takes place at 3pm ET/12pm PT. Click here to visit the channel and get additional details.
- Capital One City Parks Foundation is presenting its free SummerStage Anywhere series, also available to watch on YouTube. Each weekend this summer, exclusive digital performances can be viewed from anywhere featuring various artists, like Philly’s own DJ Rich Medina and Jazz virtuoso Christian McBride, and classes – like Digital Salsa lessons.
