MMT Recommends: More virtual happenings and Easter Weekend watches

Happy Friday, and Good Friday to those who celebrate, MMT Fam! Here’s another post I put together to give a few ideas for virtual happenings and streaming events you can watch at home. PS: there are still several options posted throughout the week on the MMT Facebook page

  • Wizard World has added to its virtual series with cast members of The Magicians, including Stella Maeve, Hale Appleman, Summer Bishil, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Trevor Einhorn and Harvey Guillén, on Saturday, April 18 at 3pm ET. This live Q&A panel is free for fans to view (on Twitch, Facebook, and YouTube) and to submit questions in the text chat. Fans will also be able to purchase live video chat sessions, recorded videos and autographs. (The ‘Buffy/Angel’ event is set for tomorrow April 11 and the Ed Asner event is on Tuesday, April 14).   • Sony Pictures Entertainment has launched a new YouTube channel called Sony Pictures’ Kids Zone, which provides parents and kids with a one stop central destination for interactive fun, physical movement, learning, and hands-on activities. Kids Zone offers a wide range of activities that will support families coping with school closures, new work-from-home routines and social distancing. Videos include:
    • PETER RABBIT™ “Make Your Own McGregor Garden”: You might not be able to raid McGregor’s garden like Peter, but you can grow your very own veggies at home.  Follow along to learn planting tips, clever crafts and more!
    • THE ANGRY BIRDS 2 MOVIE “Bird Watching”: In this hilarious “birds-eye” view of the real-life species that inspired the artists, we take a trip to the Los Angeles Zoo to get up close and personal with real-life Mighty Eagles, Blue Birds, Toucans, and more. With fun reactions from the cast intercut throughout the piece – get ready to laugh, learn and meet some amazing avian friends.
    • HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA 3 “It’s Party Time” by Joe Jonas Lyric Video
    • CENTER STAGE: ON POINTE “Dance Tutorial with Chloe”: Dancer/Actress Chloe Lukasiak and Choreographer Monica Proenca teach fans “Gwen’s” full audition piece from the film.
    • THE STAR “There’s No Me Without You” Sing-along with Bo and Friends
    • SMURFS: THE LOST VILLAGE Learn to Draw Brainy Smurf”
    • ZATHURA “Motion Storybook”: Read by Author Chris Van Allsburg
  • Airing Saturday, April 11 8pm ET/ 7pm CT on Lifetime is the highly anticipated biopic,The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel, from executive producers Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige and Missy Elliot. The movie follows the lives, and career highs and lows, of one of the most celebrated gospel groups of all-time. The highest-selling female gospel group in history and their trailblazing mother, Mattie Moss Clark will be portrayed by Aunjanue Ellis (Mattie Moss Clark), Christina Bell (Twinkie), Kierra Sheard (Karen), Sheléa Frazier (Dorinda), Raven Goodwin (Denise), and Angela Birchett (Jacky). And guess what? There’s a FACEBOOK LIVE Q&A PANEL featuring director Christine Swanson, co-writer Camille Tucker, and other special guests on Saturday, April 11 from 7-8 pm PT (10 pm EST)!   • NBC is re-broadcasting Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert this Sunday, April 12. The 2019 television concert staging of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit rock musical stars John Legend as Jesus Christ, Sara Bareilles as Mary Magdalene, Brandon Victor Dixon as Judas, Alice Cooper as King Herod, Ben Daniels as Pontius Pilate, Norm Lewis as Caiaphas, Jin Ha as Annas, Jason Tam as Peter and Erik Gronwall as Simon Zealotes. The production will air 7 to 9:30pm ET/PT.
  • You can also watch REVIVAL – a modern day interpretation of the Resurrection story (see the MMT Quick Review here). “Revival” is available on digital and DVD, including Amazon and Walmart. You can get additional info at the official website revivalthemovie.com.
  • And guess who’s back for her fourth season starting Sunday night? It’s Issa Rae and the hilarious gang of Insecure airing at 9pm on HBO.
