Happy Friday MMT Philly Fam! So, we have a great giveaway this evening, but you have to be quick! We’ve acquired 4 family five-packs for this weekend’s showing of the 1986 classic film LABYRINTH starring the late David Bowie. The movie is showing at the PFS Roxy at 20th and Sansom in Center City.
When 15-year-old Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) wishes that her fussy baby brother Toby would go away, she doesn’t expect that he will actually be whisked to a magical realm presided over by Goblin King Jareth (David Bowie), whose castle sits in the middle of a vast labyrinth. Sarah must summon all her courage and intelligence to rescue her brother by besting the labyrinth’s many traps and diversions, from mischievous fairies to the oozing, belching Bog of Eternal Stench. Both a thrilling adventure story and a heartfelt look at growing up, LABYRINTH recalls classic fantasy lands like Wonderland and Oz, but adds a flashy, funky 80s twist. Director Jim Henson and his team of master craftsmen bring to life memorable creatures like bumbling giant Ludo and Sir Didymus, an indefatigably brave knight in the body of a scrawny fox. Bowie is also fantastically creepy and charming as Jareth, making LABYRINTH a great introduction for budding rockers to this beloved icon.
This is a cool way to get your family out the house this weekend, and a perfect one for us old-school music movie lovers to share with a new generation! So, who wants to try their luck at one of those family packs? Send an email with your full name to contest@musicmoviesthoughts.com with the subject line “Labyrinth” and identify if you can do a Saturday or Sunday matinée (2:30 and 1 pm respectively). Two winners will be selected randomly for each day and notified by 11 pm this evening.
You can get additional information about tickets and showtimes for the film at the PFS Roxy official site here.
PS – kids tickets are only $1.00!
Good Luck family! Thomasena
