- Our friends at the Philadelphia Film Society are continuing virtual streaming offerings of newly released and recommended films, including titles like “The Informer” “12 Hour Shift, ”City Hall,” and “Jungleland.” PFS Drive-In at the Navy Yard is currently showing “Let Him Go” (reviewed right here on MMT) and “Freaky.” You can get additional information and purchase tickets at the PFS website here.
- Do you enjoy the Blues? Composer, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, multi-GRAMMY® winner, multi-Blues Music Award winner, Blues Hall of Fame member and Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement award recipient Taj Mahal will be streaming live from the UC Theatre stage in Berkeley, CA next Tuesday November 17 at 6pm PT/ 9pm ET. Tickets purchased prior to the livestream will grant a 48-hour access period to the stream in case you can’t watch the performance live.
- The Reel Sisters of the Diaspora Film Festival is taking place November 9 through November 17, with affordable ticket prices starting at $20 for a one-day pass and a section pass at $12. - Our friends at The Philadelphia Orchestra invite you to join them on the digital stage this season for a new standard in classical performances. - But first, the Philadelphia Orchestra is returning to Verizon Hall for the first time in more than 230 days to present Villa-Lobos’ glorious Fantasia for saxophone and orchestra – featuring Grammy-winning saxophonist Branford Marsalis – on November 12–15 for just $15. Tickets are on sale now here.
- Our friends at The Annenberg Center are presenting three online events, November 12-15, as part of Penn’s virtual Homecoming Weekend. Jazz vocalist Veronica Swift ($25) will be livestreamed Thursday, November 12, the film Aviva will be shown online Friday, November 13, and lastly Meg Bragle, Mezzo-soprano, and Richard Stone, Lute ($25), will be livestreamed Sunday, November 15. - Lastly, our friends at the Wizard World Virtual Experience have released additional schedule info featuring stars of iconic franchises across its digital video platforms in the coming weeks as follows: On Friday, writer/director/lead actor Chris Perillo of the newly released independent film Nothing from Something discusses the movie and his other works, beginning at 9 p.m ET / 6 p.m. PT. Then on Saturday it’s a tripleheader, starting with “Power Rangers” villains Vernon Wells, Ilia Volok, Diane Salinger and Melody Perkins at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT. Then at 4 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. PT it’s Pirates of the Caribbean standouts Martin Klebba, Lee Arenberg, Vince Lozano, Treva Etienne, Vanessa Branch, Isaac Singleton, Jr. and Damian O’Hare. Rounding out Saturday, at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT are Cabin Fever headliners Jordan Ladd, James DeBello, Cerina Vincent and Joey Kern. That’s followed on Sunday by “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” cast Judith Hoag and Ernie Reyes Jr. at 4 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. PT.
