The 27th Philadelphia Film Festival is underway October 18-28

Today saw the opening of the 27th Annual Philadelphia Film Festival where an array of premieres, spotlights, documentaries and more will screen at various venues throughout Center City. In addition to the ticketed events, the Philadelphia Film Society (PFS) announced that PFS on Us, a program that offers complimentary tickets to selected films and shorts, will continue this year. Dates, times, and locations for each title are available at http://filmadelphia.org/pff-program/.

The festival is also welcoming many renowned actors and filmmakers this year, including Karen Gillan, best known as an actress in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and Doctor Who, will receive the award for her directorial debut, The Party’s Just Beginning, and first-time director Paul Dano, best known for acting in Little Miss Sunshine and There Will Be Blood, will receive the award for his directorial debut, Wildlife.
