Happy Thursday MMT Family! I was delighted to screen THE PEANUTS MOVIE earlier this week. And even better still, I was able to watch it with my “littlest Gemini bestie” and MMT’s youngest contributor, Miss Jayla! Now I can say that as an adult, I felt the film remained true to the integrity and antics found in the comic strip and cartoons. I loved how it integrated many of the plots we already knew – Snoopy and the Red Baron, and Charlie Brown and his quest for achievement for example – and even allowed some of the minors to shine a bit in the one hour and 32 minute timeframe.
Now I was a little concerned about the running time with 3-year-old Jayla; however she appeared to be entertained through most of it, and was able to summarize the movie as follows, “Charlie Brown was sad. But he was happy when he talked to the little girl.” Now we of course don’t do spoilers, so that’s all I can share about her summation; but when asked what she enjoyed most about the film here was her take: 1) the Snoopy and Woodstock characters, 2) the little red-head girl’s pen because it sparkled, 3) Sally drawing Charlie Brown’s face on a balloon, 4) and Lucy laughing at Charlie Brown.
One other thing Jayla loved? “The Peanuts Movie” poster she got to take home after the screening! Check out her big smile in the photo below. 🙂
I believe Mr. Schulz would enjoy his beloved characters being re-introduced in computer generated imagery – for a whole new generation to fall in love with them. The underlying positive messages he was so adept at planting in his strip – including themes of friendship, love, and resilience – were nicely depicted in this film. And it felt great to laugh like a kid again at some of my favorite characters.
THE PEANUTS MOVIE opens Friday, November 6 nationwide. You can watch the trailer below and get additional information about the film at the official website here.
Until next thought family, Thomasena

Jayla is MMT’s kid contributor, and Thomasena’s self-described “littlest Gemini bestie.” Her favorite colors are purple and pink, and she enjoys Minnie Mouse and Snoopy.
