MMT Recommends: week 26 of #ThingsToDoFromHome

Hey MMT Fam! Here is week 26’s virtual list featuring TV, online and streaming suggestions that you and/or the family can enjoy from home, or at a reasonable social-distance. I’m still sharing events and cool posts on Instagram and/or the MMT Facebook page throughout the week, so hit those hyperlinks, give me a follow, and don’t forget to share the wealth with others!

  • Our friends at the Philadelphia Film Society are continuing virtual streaming offerings of newly released and recommended films, including titles like the re-release of 2018’s “RBG,” “The Disrupted,” “Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President,” and “I Am Woman.” You can get additional information about all these events and more at the PFS website here.
  • The Philadelphia Film Society is also continuing its virtual watch party and Quizzo challenge series on October 10 with 1993’s HOCUS POCUS. The Quizzo portion will begin at 7:30pm on Discord App. You can open the Discord App on either your Desktop, Laptop, iPad, or Smartphone. You may need to register a name or email to login and play along. The film is currently streaming on DisneyPlus.com. Be sure to start exactly at 8pm to watch along, and keep the party and chatter going on Discord during the film! And check the app around 9:30pm for the answers to Quizzo and the winner reveal. This is a FREE event hosted by PFS though donations are welcome and appreciated! You can make a donation at Filmadelphia.org/Donate.
  • Our friends over at Revry tv are honoring National LGBT History Month with the premiere of the 5th annual QueerX Festival, brought to you by Lexus, October 1st through the 31st. Celebrating LGBTQ+ music, film, politics, and culture, the festival (touted as the queer SXSW by Billboard and Flaunt Magazine) will take a unique approach to its screening and panel programming this year by going virtual, live, and FREE. The 2020 event, which takes place 3 weeks before the national election, will revolve around the theme “Rise Up” and will drive political participation through its screenings, panels, and activations. You can get additional information and tickets at the official website www.queerx.com. And watch the trailer below to find out about Revry’s newest POC-driven panel series, Amplify Voices, which explores the intersectionality of black and queer identity through the lens of entertainment, sports, politics, and allyship. The panel will screen October 5 through October 10.
