- Our friends at the Philadelphia Film Society are continuing virtual streaming offerings of newly released and recommended films, including titles like the re-release of 2018’s “RBG,” “The Disrupted,” “Jimmy Carter: Rock & Roll President,” and “I Am Woman.” You can get additional information about all these events and more at the PFS website here.
- The Philadelphia Film Society is also continuing its virtual watch party and Quizzo challenge series on October 10 with 1993’s HOCUS POCUS. The Quizzo portion will begin at 7:30pm on Discord App. You can open the Discord App on either your Desktop, Laptop, iPad, or Smartphone. You may need to register a name or email to login and play along. The film is currently streaming on DisneyPlus.com. Be sure to start exactly at 8pm to watch along, and keep the party and chatter going on Discord during the film! And check the app around 9:30pm for the answers to Quizzo and the winner reveal. - Our friends over at Revry tv are honoring National LGBT History Month with the premiere of the 5th annual QueerX Festival, brought to you by Lexus, October 1st through the 31st. Celebrating LGBTQ+ music, film, politics, and culture, the festival (touted as the queer SXSW by Billboard and Flaunt Magazine) will take a unique approach to its screening and panel programming this year by going virtual, live, and FREE. The 2020 event, which takes place 3 weeks before the national election, will revolve around the theme “Rise Up” and will drive political participation through its screenings, panels, and activations. And watch the trailer below to find out about Revry’s newest POC-driven panel series, Amplify Voices, which explores the intersectionality of black and queer identity through the lens of entertainment, sports, politics, and allyship. The panel will screen October 5 through October 10.
- Lastly, our friends at the Wizard World Virtual Experience have released additional schedule info as follows: On Saturday at 4 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT, visit Gotham City with “From Batman to Joker” featuring franchise standouts Brett Cullen, Robert Wuhl and Michael Uslan. Then on Sunday, “Ary and the Secret of Seasons” voice actors Chris Zambelis, Kira Buckland and Casey Mongillo, join lead writer Genese Davis for a discussion on the new video game at 4 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. PT. On Thursday, Oct. 8, stars of scary films Diane Salinger, Ann Robinson, James Murtaugh and Jimmy Workman meet up for “Oh The Horror!” at 7 p.m ET / 4 p.m. PT, followed that evening at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT by the live trivia contest for nerd-culture know-it-alls, “Last Fan Standing,” hosted by the inimitable Bruce Campbell. “Shadowhunters” headliners Maxim Roy, Anna Hopkins and Jon Cor reunite on Friday, Oct. 9 at 4 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. PT. These live Q&A panels are FREE for fans to view (on Twitch, Facebook, YouTube) and submit questions in text chat. Separately fans may purchase live video chat sessions, recorded videos and autographs. During each session, the celebrities will participate in a free live moderated video Q&A, followed by one-on-one video chats, recorded videos and autographs that are available to purchase.
