MMT Recommends: week 13 of #ThingsToDoFromHome

Happy Sunday MMT Fam! Here’s another week’s list featuring TV, online and streaming suggestions that you and/or the family can enjoy from home – and one that allows an outing for the fam at an extremely safe distance if you’re driving. Don’t forget that events are also shared on Instagram and/or the MMT Facebook page throughout the week, so hit those hyperlinks and give a follow!

  • Our friends at the Philadelphia Film Society are continuing virtual streaming offerings of newly released and recommended films, including titles like “Ella Fitzgerald: Just One of Those Things”(trailer below), “Miss Juneteenth,” and “The Surrogate,”.  PFS is also still celebrating Pioneers of Queer Cinema in celebration of Pride Month. Get additional information at the official website here.
  • Amazon Studios and Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society are launching A Night at the Drive-In, a nationwide summer screening series featuring a wide selection of films celebrating multi-cultural voices in cinema. And guess what? Attendance will be at no cost. The series starts this Wednesday, July 1, will occur every other week through the end of August, and will feature hit films like Black Panther, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, Girls Trip, Crazy Rich Asians and more. Register for passes, find locations and get additional info at the official website here.
  • It’s also the final days of Black Music Month, also known as African-American Music Appreciation Month, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is sharing additional videos – this time featuring legendary inductees who’ve contributed to the development and popularization of Funk and R&B genres, like Tina Turner, Parliament Funkadelic, James Brown, and Sly and the Family Stone. You can enjoy the collection at its YouTube channel here. You also can listen to the Rock Hall’s online playlist honoring Juneteenth a.k.a. “Jubilee Day” and the continued movement for equality here on Spotify (sign up is free).
