The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (2018 version)

One of my favorite things

Happy Holidays MMT Fam! This has truly been one of the most difficult years of my life and I am extremely grateful to be writing this post. Thank you to everyone who’s still touching base to make sure I am okay – I am alright but having to do things a bit slower than I’m used to and very apologetic that I haven’t posted since mid-November (there was a bit of a set back for me, but again I’m hanging strong 🙂 ).

If you remember though, this is truly my favorite time of year – the decorations, the music and the blanket of love and kindness that seems to emanate from the atmosphere. In that spirit, I’m sharing a list of holiday specials and such that you and the family might enjoy during this season:

  1. ChristmasTVSchedule.com – I thought this was a neat website, which lists a variety of holiday specials and their respective air dates/channels. It’s advised that you still check your TV listings for any changes or updates by local channels.
  2. TV Guide’s Ultimate Holiday Viewing Guide – This is a very thorough listing, which includes streaming channels like Hulu and Netflix and their respective holiday movies and specials.
  3. Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas The Musical – Oh, how I tried to get Philly area subscribers a promo code, but I had no such luck for this show (in my Suessical voice 😛 )! The critically acclaimed Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical features the hit songs “You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas” (written by Albert Hague and Dr. Seuss) from the original animated series. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is “two sizes too small,” decides to steal Christmas away from the Holiday loving Whos. The musical will open tomorrow night at The Kimmel Center and run through December 29. There are also special performances – American Sign Language (ASL) and Audio Description (AD) on Friday, December 21 and a Sensory Friendly performance on Saturday, December 22. Click here to enter the website for additional details and ticket purchase. PS – this play in also on Broadway now through December 30! If you’ll be in the NY city area, you can use ticket code: WHO at Ticketmaster to save up to 35% on select performances.
  4. Movie Theater picks for Christmas – So, I will DEFINITELY be in the house on Christmas for the highly praised film IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK! I had to skip out on screenings due to illness, but trust I’m not putting it off any longer. It’s playing now in select theaters (NY and LA), but opening in wide release on Christmas Day. Get info and showtimes at the official website here. And if you’re looking to take the kiddos to something, why not Illumination Presents THE GRINCH movie, with Benedict Cumberbatch (voicing the Grinch) and narrated by Pharrell Williams? Get additional deets at the official website here.

Okay family, that’s it for me today. You can check out my review of Grinch musical later this week and know that I am keeping each of you in my thoughts and prayers this holiday season.

Until next thought, Thomasena

PS: I live to share the video below!!! For those who celebrate, Merry Christmas 🙂
